The Houston Striders are a city-wide running club with a primary objective of promoting running for fun and fitness. Our members range from walkers/joggers to Boston-qualified marathoners and ultrarunners. While we are very serious about running and fitness, we are a low-key club in that we always emphasize fun, service, participation, and fellowship over competition.
Organized club runs in both the Memorial Park and Terry Hershey Park (Westside) areas on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Open training run/trail run on Wednesdays at Memorial Park.

PhilosophyOur mission is to "Take your running to new heights" TM. In Flight offers a non intimidating environment for beginners yet challenging for experienced runners. Training programs available from the 5K to Marathon distance with on-line training schedules provided. We take a holistic approach to running by including advice on strength training, cross training, flexibility, injury prevention and nutrition. Club RunsMost group runs originate from Memorial Park, Fleet Feet stores (Rice & Woodway) and Buffalo Bayou trails. Our 9 month marathon/half marathon training season starts in May and ends the following February. Marathon/Half program meet times are 6:00am for Saturday long runs and 5:30am and 6:00pm for Monday/Wednesday speed and hill interval workouts. PhilosophyOur philosophy is to build team camaraderie and develop new relationships while working to achieve the performance levels necessary to meet goals and cross the finish line with a smile.
Club RunsClub Runs:Meet every Thursday (rain or shine) at Texas Running Company at 6:30 PM to run or walk either of our two loops (1.8 mile short loop or 4.7 mile long loop). Water and a sports drink will be placed out on the course at the start and midway points. The camaraderie continues at a post run happy hour and dinner at one of Sugar Land’s local eateries. Additional track workouts and hill workouts (parking garage) will be held on Tuesday evenings. Programs for new runners as well as full/half marathon training are also available for a fee.
